66th Republic Day celebration at the Embassy of India, AMMAN

Embassy of India in Amman celebrated the 66th Republic Day of India on Monday, the January 26, 2015 at India House. Shri Anil Trigunayat, Ambassador of India to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, unfurled the tricolor followed by singing of National Anthem and read out the Hon’ble President of India’s address to the Nation. A strong gathering from all section of societies including eminent persons, friends of India, Persons of Indian Origin and members of the Mission and their family members attended the event. Ambassador Trigunayat while extending heartiest congratulations to the Indian Community in Jordan complimented them for their commendable and remarkable roles in strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries. In the evening, a reception was hosted at the InterContinental Hotel, Amman, to mark the Republic Day as well as the 65th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Jordan. Diplomatic corps, local leaders, NRIs and eminent personalities attended the functions, including Senate President Abdelraouf al-Rawabdeh, Industry and Trade Minister Hatem Halawani, Greater Amman Mayor Akel Beltaji, Secretary General in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Expatriates Mohammad Tayseer Bani Yaseen and SG Ministry of Transport, and several Senators and congressmen as well as DG’s in the MFA among others. Ambassador in his speech noted that the historic, cordial, friendly and warm relations between the two countries have witnessed the test of the time all these years and strengthened and deepened further.  He added, to commemorate the 65th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, a host of cultural activities and events are planned over the months starting on 27th January, 2015 with the inauguration of Indo-Jordan Photo exhibition, exhibition of Islamic monuments and Film Festival. Ambassador also thanked the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for their continued support to the Indian diaspora in Jordan. The local media gave an extensive coverage to all these events as well as in the run up to them.
